🎧 The Drop of the Week

Telepathic Instruments – Orchid
The one-octave “ideas machine” co-designed by Tame Impala’s Kevin Parker is finally getting a global release after two sold-out drops.

The official version goes on sale October 10 with a new OS 3.60 update — adding ten fresh sounds from Parker, plus filters and drum FX.
For those without the hardware, a software plugin version called Pistil is also on the way for your DAW.

👉 One of 2025’s most hyped boutique instruments is now within reach — happy chord crafting.

🧠 AI in Music

Timbaland just introduced his first AI-generated artist, “Tata Taktumi.”
Her debut single “Glitch x Pulse” was built from his own demo beats fed into Suno AI, which generated the final track and vocals.

The result? Timbaland’s signature bounce paired with an AI-created voice and persona.
He says, “AI is the only thing that has a pure soul right now.”
Whether you agree or not, creative AI collaborations have officially gone mainstream.

💬 Industry Whispers

💽 Spotify × BMG Deal — Spotify and BMG have struck a direct, multiyear U.S. publishing deal designed to deliver greater value to songwriters.
By bypassing old blanket systems, this could mean higher royalties for writers — a quiet but powerful shift in streaming economics.

💰 BMG’s $250 M Catalog Buy — BMG also acquired Jason Aldean’s entire recorded catalog (nine albums) plus rights from 23 other artists, marking its largest catalog deal ever.
Catalog acquisitions remain red-hot, with big players betting heavily on proven IP and evergreen revenue streams.

🚀 Creator Spotlight

Meet Tkandz, a 19-year-old self-taught rapper from Essex who turned a hobbyist app into a global hit.

Using free platform BandLab, he released “NOW OR NEVER” — a melodic rap anthem that shot to #1 on Spotify’s Global Viral 50.
A single TikTok from a soccer player helped it explode, sending Tkandz past 4 million monthly listeners overnight.

Proof that the next breakout act might be recording on their phone right now.
